The Lone Waterman

Slowly he maneuvers back and forth
Across the emerging light
The muted calm is enveloping
A hiatus from the hectic land
At heart he’s a loner
At ease in nature’s solitude
Endeavoring to make a living
A more daunting effort
With each passing sunrise
The once thriving bay is
Slowly disappearing
Myriads of watermen
Have long gone
He’s determined to last
Like the migrating geese
He’s part of a pattern
